Deborah received her Bachelor of Art in Studio Art from The University of Texas in Austin and continued post-graduate work in photography and printmaking at The Art Institute of Chicago. Her experience in the art field includes working as a illustrator, graphic designer, commercial silkscreen printer, and jewelry designer. A mid-life career change led her to a Masters degree in psychology, and she began working in private practice as a psychotherapist with an emphasis in art therapy. In 2009 she received her PhD in depth psychology and wrote her dissertation on the past and present cultural and psychological meanings of Outsider Art.
Working primarily in pastel and oils for many years, she recently discovered the fascinating processes of encaustic painting, cold wax, and monotypes. Deborah’s paintings have won numerous awards and have been shown in many galleries and exhibitions. A selected list of shows include
